Designing innovative educational practices
Design & Living Worlds
An ecocentric systemic design practice is being developed with students from the Master’s program in Design & Living Worlds and third-year students from the Bachelor’s program in Design and New Societies at the Institut Supérieur de Design in Saint-Malo. Through this approach, IASPAT trains students to collectively address complex socio-ecological challenges, such as the restoration of a watercourse within a contested territory where agricultural activities, waste storage, service industries, and recreational uses are in conflict. The pedagogical process fosters collective inquiry and design interventions that reveal and negotiate the interdependencies between human practices and living ecosystems, aiming to regenerate ecological functions while ensuring territorial justice and sustainable livelihoods.
